Description

We are excited to have shares available in the winning dual purpose horse Sheriff Garrett. Sheriff Garrett was bought at the Goffs Breeze up sales in 2015 for £28000. He took a while to come to hand but found his form to win two races as a 3 year old over 1m 6f. He was schooled by William Easterby, son of the trainer Tim Easterby at their high class schooling gallops and William quickly realised the potential Sheriff Garrett had over hurdles and recommended we look for hurdle races for him straight away, and how right he was. Sheriff has found his calling as a hurdler with from figures over hurdles of ‘64322342212’ showing he is a very consistent performer already picking up over £13000 over hurdles including a 12 length win at Hexham, and he has a very good current mark of 120. The Sheriff will also run on the flat over 1m 6f+ through the summer and can win races from his current mark of 62 as he has already won from that mark. Sheriff will be running plenty through the year in both codes’ respective seasons and is definitely capable of winning in both codes throughout the year.

Sheriff’s sire, Lawman won two Group 1’s over 1m to 1m 21/2f in a lightly raced career when only running 7 times, amassing prize money of over €750,000. His stud career has been very successful, most notably producing Most Improved who won the Group 1 St James’ Palace stakes at Royal Ascot. His runners are tough and talented, Sheriff is no different.

Sheriff’s dam, Few Are Chosen won 4 races from 1m to 1m 1/2f amassing prize money of over €36,000, achieving a highest rating of 90 which is an above average mark. She has only produced two running foals, the other only running a couple of times.

We believe Sheriff is fantastic value for the price, he will be running all year over hurdles and on the flat and believe he will be winning over both codes in the coming years. We believe he is best over hurdles though and think he will be winning at some very nice jumps tracks these coming years as he is a talented jumper. He is very tough and consistent which are two important things in racehorses; they must want to win, and Sheriff certainly does.

Tim Easterby on Sheriff Garrett and his future plans

“Sheriff Garrett is a joy to have in the yard as he always tries on the gallops, we call him Nijinsky at home because he flies off when running with other horses. However on the track he settles nicely in his races and has really found his place over hurdles, he schools beautifully and Will (William Easterby, my son) schools him most days and thinks plenty of him over hurdles, having said that I also believe he will win more races on the flat as he has already proven he can win on the flat and has fallen to his previous winning mark of 62, so I think he will provide plenty of fun for owners over both codes”.
